Screen shot 2010-12-07 at 5.37.38 PM.pngAt a Glance: Atlas Walnut Co of California is voluntarily recalling walnut halves and pieces because a shipment sent to another manufacturer has tested positive for the presence of Salmonella. Azar Nut Co, which receives product from Atlas, has asked U.S. Foodservice to recall the products.

The Issue: No illness has been reported. Azar reports

Granted, there are a lot of things going on in the country that demand the attention of our leaders (like tax cuts for Millionairs and Billionairs and see list below), but for gawd’s sake Food Safety should be at least on the short list as more than a “possibility.”

Rushing Waters Fisheries, Palmyra, is recalling about 225 pounds of smoked trout and smoked salmon spreads, because the products may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes.

No illnesses have been reported from eating this product. The contamination was discovered through routine testing conducted by the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade, and Consumer Protection.
