In less than one year Darwin’s Natural Pet Products have been found to be contaminated with Listeria, Salmonella (three times) and E. coli O157:H7. This year Dawin’s pet food has been epidemiologically and genetically linked to kidney failure in a young child in Utah.

FDA reports: Uptick in Salmonella and Cyclospora illnesses
- For the outbreak of Salmonella Oranienburg (ref #1316) linked to a not yet identified product, FDA has initiated traceback. The case count has increased from 18 to 22.
- For the outbreak of Cyclospora cayetanensis (ref #1313) linked to a not yet identified product, an additional cluster of Cyclosporiasis illnesses has been added to this investigation
Fresh & Ready linked to 10 people with Listeria
A total of 10 people infected with the outbreak strain of Listeria were reported from two states. Sick people’s samples were collected from December 3, 2023, to September 9, 2024. Of the 10 people with information available, all 10 were hospitalized. One death was reported from Nevada.
On March 31, 2025, FDA collected environmental samples
