As of November 1, 2023, seven people infected with the outbreak strain of Salmonella have been reported from seven states. Illnesses started on dates ranging from January 14, 2023, to August 19, 2023. One person was hospitalized, and no deaths have been reported.

San Diego – 12 with Salmonella: County of San Diego health officials are reporting three additional cases of Salmonella illness linked to unpasteurized or “raw” milk from a producer in Fresno, CA.   

This brings the total number of local cases to 12, including three people who were hospitalized. The cases began in late September 

My phone and email has been buzzing with reports of Salmonella illnesses in multiple states. The folks sickened are being told that they are part of a multi-state Salmonella outbreak, but are not yet being told what has sickened them.

Chicago’s Department of Public Health has confirmed 55 Salmonella infections stemming from the outbreak at an Avondale taqueria, Carniceria Guanajuato, up from 20 last week.

At least 17 people have been hospitalized as of Sept. 30.

An investigation into the source of the bacteria is ongoing. The restaurant remains closed as owners

The Chicago Department of Public Health (CDPH) records show the taqueria in Carniceria Guanajuato was inspected on Sept. 8 due to suspected food poisoning, and inspectors found raw beef and raw shelled eggs were being stored above ready-to-eat sliced lettuce inside a prep cooler in the restaurant.
