The Greene County Daily World reports that Bailey and Abby Stahl, the 13-month-old twin daughters of Chris and Nicole Stahl of rural Bloomfield, have been patients at Riley Children’s Hospital for about two weeks. The twins suffer from hemolytic uremic syndrome (HUS), a disease that destroys red blood cells. It is the most common cause of sudden, short-term, acute kidney failure in children.
Community blood drives and fundraisers are planned.
