KCCI reported late yesterday that the Jasper County Health Department said Friday that a 14-year-old Iowa girl died after testing positive for E. coli. A spokesperson for Blank Children’s Hospital said Kayla Boner died Friday morning. She was admitted to the hospital Tuesday morning. Hospital officials said they’ve treated three patients with E. coli in the last two weeks. Polk County Health officials said they know of at least six E. coli cases in the county.
