With Congressmembers Rosa DeLauro, Bart Stupak and John Dingell leading the charge, the Senate’s version of food safety, S. 510, has been absorbed into the House Omnibus Spending Bill (payments to keep lights on in Washington). And, after what appears to be an upcoming party-line vote, it (the Omnibus Spending Bill with S. 510 inserted) is heading to the Senate for a vote now that it has passed the House – 212-206 as now H.B. 3082.  When the Senate will vote is still to be determined, likely next Wednesday or Thursday.

Watching CSPAN is so fun.  I’ll be in Washington D.C. next week to see how it ends.

Phew, that one was close. My Congressman better have been a Yay. (He promised me he would.) Thank goodness for ardent supporters and tireless workers for foodsafety like Rosa and Bart and Mr. Dingell, to without their support, I doubt that this would have happened. So a huge THANK YOU TO THEM.

  • Gabrielle, thanks for all you have done and do. I will be in DC next week.

Bill, good luck in DC next week. I’m glad someone with the knowledge and the voice, like you will be down there making sure this Bill is not left on the side of the road like it has been for 21 months. I don’t understand how our Senators could have managed this snafu, but as long as it ends well, that is the most important thing. If it passes, this country will owe YOU a lot of gratitude. (But they won’t know this or ever understand this. Aw, the unsung heros. There is a beautiful place in heaven for you.) Let me know if there is anything more that I can do.

While the S.510 bill has a good name, it suffers the same fate that any bill may suffer in a system that let’s the highest financial bidders manipulate their drafting to maximize their profits at all costs. I don’t doubt that your motivations are well-meaning, but look at the actual bill and you will see that it is more aptly called the “food fascism bill” as many have called it. Has this been in the media? No. It should have been big news that over 5 million Emails have been sent out from the members of the Natural Solutions Foundation at http://www.healthfreedom.org.

We are handing over many of our rights in this bill in exchange for food security. But the FDA makes money off of our sickness getting most of it’s revenues from some sort of licensing arrangement from the drug companies whose drugs it approves. The fda’s decision process is infested with industry people and manipulates testing – even the recent lap band expansion consideration had an executive from the company that stands to gain the most, on it’s decision-making committee.
The FDA will not ban cigarettes but wants to ban ear candles, and Director Sibelius told the media last Summer to stop giving airtime to any parent concerned that their child might have gotten
    Autism from a vaccine.
This bill also contains a provision about reconciliation with any treaties that America has with other
countries, which will usher in the Codex Alimentarius, a system already going into effect in Europe and a system whose meetings are closed to the public, controlled by international cartels and
Codex Alimentarius, or “Food Code”, is something that was created by a former Nazi who
produced the gas that killed Jews and others in the Nazi Death Camps. Learn more if interested at
    Good health to you.
