I just recently had surgery. Three daysafter coming home, the incision becomes infected with e-coli,strep and another type of bacteria. Neiter my GP nor surgeon know what it was.The infectious disease doctor is called in. I had to have a pic line to deliver the "strong" antibiotics. Dead tisssue and infected tissue were removed by surgery. The infectious disease doctor says e-coli accures naturally in our body. I know it is in the intestine, but not naturally produced in most of our organs! Like he saaid. How could I have contracted a strain of this bacteria and not have any of the obvious sympdtoms like diahrea and vomiting and only in the surgural open insicion?

Hello
I was one of the serviers of HUS. I was 12 in 1983, when I was told this is what I have. My kidneys failed, I was in Egleston Childrens Hospital during the month of April 1983. My blood pressure was up and down. At one point they did not believe I would make it, later my mother would tell me the intire story, as it seemed like just a bad dream to me. To date I have never even had a kidney infection, go figure. One of the lucky ones
