Minnesota and Wisconsin, States seemingly awash in E. coli and Salmonella

Screen shot 2010-10-17 at 9.57.27 PM.pngI am heading to Wisconsin via Minnesota in the morning and it got me thinking just how much of my law practice (specifically E. coli and Salmonella cases) over the years has centered on these two states in the upper midwest.

Why is that? Is it that the client base snowballs because we know you here? Or is it that cases work well here because our health deparment is so good at identifying outbreak sources? Or do we just poison each other more often?

    Donna,
I bet you’re right… One would have to really look into the epidemiological data to know, of course, one can’t just guess about this kind of question about a complex system (not in a useful way, in any event). You’d probably have to look at journalistic and enforcement practices, too, which might be difficult to stick into any sort of analytic “cube” when looking for correlations.
