Marler Blog Providing Commentary on Food Poisoning Outbreaks & Litigation

CNN: Listeria Cantaloupe – “Most of these people who died, died very, very painful deaths.”

Most of these people who died, died very, very painful deaths. They had neurological symptoms, physiological symptoms, they suffered lots of pain, and in some cases it was like losing their minds. That just that shouldn’t happen from eating fresh cantaloupe. It shouldn’t happen.”  Bill Marler, a nationally known food safety lawyer in Seattle.

My father was devastated by effects of listeria after eating tainted Jensen Farms cantaloupe. Listeria turned a spry, happy 92 year old into someone completely different. The agony that he endured was painful to watch. The mood swings during the 2 1/2 weeks of intravenous antibiotics was not a good time for my father nor my family. From September 19th until his passing on the 19th of December dad could not perform the simplest of tasks such as feeding himself and putting on his clothes. He didn’t recognize his wife of 68 years nor his children. This was not a good time for any of us!
There are other families that have similar horror stories watching their loved ones die!
I read the CNN story yesterday. I was amazed by some of the insensitive comments of some. These people have no compassion or brains!
