         <description><![CDATA[<p>I haven't stopped by here lately, but these cases seem to be no different than usual.  When I worked in retail food sanitation, the attitude among some at the state and local level was to protect the retail or wholesale facility in question whenever there was an outbreak.  Only when it became absolutely necessary to reveal problems to the public, did they do so.  Even then, the information revealed was limited.  There may have been some legitimate concern about not causing undue panic, especially when the source of an outbreak was not yet determined.  Mostly, however, I believe that industry was treated with kid gloves to prevent a backlash against inspectors and regulation. The needs of the general public were often not foremost in the regulatory agency's thoughts and actions.</p>]]></description>
