Something must be done to stop the deplorable wastage of animal flesh and animal lives in this country. I am referring to these increasingly familiar reports of contaminated meat products being recalled. Every time I read about yet another recall, I cannot help but wonder at the number of animals the recalled poundage of flesh represents. What is so dreadfully wrong with the system that allows such wastage? The news stories never mention the animals who were brutally killed just to be thrown away like so much garbage. One would think their lives count for nothing. Human safety is the only concern. Well, those animals DO matter. They matter to me. It is morally and ethically indefensible to waste them through reckless processing of their bodies.

Absolutely. For an industry that always touts its "efficiency" and "responsible" management practices these land-filling carcasses are a disgrace!

Yes of course... The resources; The water; The fuel; The human effort and the animal slaughter. It's all such a terrible waste.

I think we could have fed many on a plant based diet with what it took to grow/kill/"process" these innocent animals.
