Mr. Marler, thank you for continuing this fight. I see parents who feed their children raw milk, the same as those that do not use car seats or don't have smoke detectors in their house. They and those that sell raw milk illegally deserve to be taken to task.

As one of those parents who feeds my family raw milk, I respectfully disagree. I'm sure you'll be surprised to learn that we use carseats AND smoke detectors. We don't believe everything big government, pharma and agribusiness tell us, though. We read and think hard about our choices.

A deeper look at the FDA's position will yield the sheepish acknowledgement that NO disease outbreak has been traced to the consumption of (certified) raw milk since 1973. The Washington State case is still under scrutiny and is clouded with suspicion relative to sabatoge of the dairy at the delivery site. The only case traced to raw cheese consumption, was illegally smuggled mexican cheese.

The health benefits of raw milk are significant. Pasturization kills vital enzymes that make the milk digestible and release it's nutrients to the body. My baby was transformed LITERALLY overnight upon replacement of the doctor recommended Enfamil Nutramigen baby formula with a homemade recipe made with raw milk. I am grateful everyday for that blessing, and there are thousands of other mothers who are as well.

Those of us who use raw milk should have the right to control our diets instead of being coerced to cowtow to large dairy conglomerates (who are providing you with milk produced by cows who are fed cheap cereals and grains-primarily soy) whose only vested interest is profit. My certified organic farmer's cows eat grass and hay-that's it. My family is robustly healthy. All Americans should have the right to choose for themselves. If you would prefer to trust corporate america with your family's health, that is certainly your right, but it should also be mine to support my local farmer. I KNOW where my milk comes from-do you? I hope we never see the day where I have to skulk underground to feed my family clean food, but in light of the bullying tactics recently endorsed by the FDA and USDA, it appears that day may yet come.

please, big, righteous brother...don't do me any favors.

I'm not trying to be righteous or your big brother. I am simply laying out the facts - not my beliefs. The reality is that the two Washington State E. coli outbreaks tied to raw milk happened. It was not an conspiracy. You do have the right to do whatever is legal with your kids. However, you sound so much like the parent who feeds their child raw milk BEFORE they become ill with a life-threatening illness. I wish you the best and hope your child never become ill.

Mr. Marler,

Please read "Real Food" by Nina Plank, and any of the dozens of other great books about America's food system, Wendell Berry is another great resource.

I'm sure you mean well, but you are actively trying to destroy a great and good thing and replace it with a shoddy imitation that is far less safe.
