Death Toll Continues to Mount in Cantaloupe Listeria Outbreak

Last years Listeria Cantaloupe Outbreak is still claiming lives.  December 2011 official CDC report counted a total of 146 persons infected with any of the four outbreak-associated strains of Listeria monocytogenes from 28 states.  However, the CDC still only counts thirty deaths as being reported in addition to one woman pregnant at the time of illness who had a miscarriage.  I believe the death toll is now at least 36, including Mike Hauser:

Watching this video brings back memories of my father and his bout with listeria. To think that eating cantaloupe could destroy the lives of Mr Hauser, 34 others and my father. Listeria tainted cantaloupe also affected the 146 survivors. My heart goes out to the Hauser family and all the rest of the victims families. I know firsthand the effects of listeria.
They say that the hurt will pass with time, but I am not sure that is true. We watched our loved ones fight a losing battle!
